Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick decided it's time that somebody do something major about that pesky section of Stewart Avenue in Collegetown.
The Mayor stated on his Facebook that he has "gone to DC this year to apply for federal funds that would cover the cost of brick paving in this historic district" and hopes that the application will be approved during the fall. The reason for applying for federal funding is that "the cost to replace the brick is too high", according to Mayor Myrick.
However, the Mayor has decided that this can't wait until the fall and has set forth an initiative that will allow work crews to "smooth what they can", said Myrick's on his Facebook page. Myrick said that cnstruction should last until the end of this week.
