NYSEG and RG&E to Aid in Long Island Restoration Efforts

Companies to Provide Mutual Aid Assistance to PSEG Long Island BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK — August 23, 2019, 3:30 p.m. NYSEG and RG&E, subsidiaries of AVANGRID, Inc., announced Friday that they are providing 23 crews from the companies to help restore power to PSEG customers impacted by recent weather events.

“Mother Nature continues to challenge New Yorkers this summer, with the latest severe storm hitting Long Island,” said Patricia Nilsen, Director of Emergency Preparedness for NYSEG and RG&E. “NYSEG and RG&E crews and contractors stand ready to assist in the effort to restore power to our fellow New Yorkers.”

In addition to the 23 crews that the companies plan to provide, they also announced that 20 contractor crews, 15 tree crews and additional professional staff would join the effort. The effort comes on the heels of devastating storms Thursday evening that left more than 45,000 Long Island residents without power. Currently, more than 915 active outage eventsstill remain, impacting more than 19,000 customers.
