Novelist Jeff Delbel to be Featured Speaker at word, revisited on Thursday, September 12

The popular writers’ program, word, revisited, is beginning the Fall 2019 season on Thursday, September 12.  This bimonthly, community program is the product of a vibrant partnership among the Cayuga Museum, aaduna, the online poetry journal, and Olive Trees, a locally-produced literary ‘zine.’  word, revisited takes place on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the intimate space of the Carriage House Theater behind the Cayuga Museum. Each evening’s program includes both a featured speaker and an open mic session.  The next featured writer will be novelist Jeff Delbel.

Award winning author Jeff Delbel will be reading from his Novels and discussing his work on September 12 at the Cayuga Museum Carriage House at 6:00 PM. Jeff first studied writing at the University of Miami, Fla. and continued at the Syracuse University S. I. Newhouse School where he earned a PhD. In his early career as a professor of Telecommunications at Cayuga Community College, Jeff wrote and produced scores of scripts and received national recognition from PBS. After serving for ten years as a Cayuga dean, Jeff returned to the classroom and added Philosophy to his competency list. From that time, he has focused on blending clear, readable, and engaging writing with the deep questions of the great philosophers.

In 2016, Jeff published the first book in the Jimmy Eagleson series, The Flight of Jimmy Eagleson, followed in 2017 by the second series story, Salvatore. Each novel earned the prestigious CNY People’s Choice Award presented by the Greater Syracuse Area YMCA’s Downtown writers’ center and Syracuse University’s NPR affiliate WEAR. Kate’s Gift, the third of the series books is slated for publication in 2020. Jeff is now Professor Emeritus of Communications and Philosophy from Cayuga. He lives in the Finger Lakes region where he continues to teach and write.

Doors will open at 5:30 pm for open mic sign-up; speakers begin at 6:00, followed by an open mic session. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available.  $3 donation is asked with all proceeds going to the Cayuga Museum to continue their work.  Word, revisited is held in the Carriage House Theater behind the Cayuga Museum, at 203 Genesee Street, Auburn.
