Happy Star Wars Day

Written by Anna Kryczka

May the 4th is Star Wars Day. On this day back in 1985 "Return of the Jedi Weekly 98" is published. Also "I, Jedi" is published in 1998. This was the first novel published that centered around a character not featured in any of the films.

The saying "May the fourth be with you" has origins not related to Star Wars in any way. When Margaret Thatcher was elected the first woman to become prime minister in Britain, Her party took out a newspaper ad in the London Evening News that said "May the Fourth be with you, Maggie. Congratulations." Eventually this became the slogan for Star Wars Day given that it couldn't be anymore fitting.
