Halloween Memories from two of WVBR's Speciality DJs

Happy Halloween to our WVBR Listeners! During spooky season, we like to take a trip down memory lane. Here are some fun Halloween throwbacks from WVBR's own John Rudan and John Simon!

John Rudan, Specialty Show Host

What was your favorite Halloween memory or tradition from growing up?

When I was a kid, there was a lady in our neighborhood who served us cider and donuts instead of candy... We always looked forward to the treats at her house!

What was your favorite costume that you’ve worn, OR what you would dress up as if you were to have a costume?

As an adult and when I had hockey equipment, I used to dress up as a hockey player, complete with NHL jersey and helmet with face mask, which was perfect for Halloween...

What is your favorite Halloween-related song and/or movie?

  • Song: "Werewolves Of London", Warren Zevon;

  • Movie: "Halloween", the first one and the best one...

What was your favorite Halloween memory or tradition from growing up?

  • Hot cider and donuts while carving pumpkins with my kids down the hill (on the Southside) while listening to a Halloween mix tape (on real cassette tape, I might add): "Thriller," "The Monster Mash," "Spooky" by the Classics IV....

  • Trick-or-Treating at Washington Park (back in the day they did it right!). Nowadays, Fall Creek is the place to go.

What was your favorite costume that you’ve worn, OR what you would dress up as if you were to have a costume?

This was my daughter Rosie (as "Really Rosie," funny enough) and her crazed Rockstar dad. Rosie now has two kids of her own!

What is your favorite Halloween-related song and/or movie?

See #2 ["Thriller," "The Monster Mash," "Spooky" by the Classics IV....]. "Thriller" would have to be #1, though.

Thanks for the Halloween #TBTs, guys! And a happy Halloween to all of our listeners, keep haunting our airways. Let us know what your favorite Halloween memories are on Facebook and Twitter.
