Member Show at TCFA

Opening reception Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 3-5pm

Join us as we welcome the first Finger Lakes Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators member show at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts. This show will feature diverse works from group members in a variety of mediums. The opening is free to attend and refreshments will be served. The show runs through Saturday, April 4th.

The opening reception will feature music by The Maplewood Jazz Quartet with Lisa Fernandez on drums and vocals, Ken Zeserson on sax, Stu Zimney on bass, and Jon Conrad on guitar.

Additionally, TCFA will be offering an opportunity to meet and sketch with the artists of the Guild on Sunday March 22, 2pm to 4pm. This will also be a free event and an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Guild and its work.

About the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators:

The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI) was created in 1968 as a way to network among the illustrators of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC. The Guild brings together natural science artists around the world to provide them with professional development opportunities through the web and through the Guild's famous week long summer conference.

In 2003, the Finger Lakes chapter was created, meeting about every two to three months to show and tell, to offer mini workshops, to paint at chosen locations or to invite teachers of professional interest. The group consists of around two-dozen members who meet regularly to share artwork, ideas, and expertise in a variety of mediums that range from pencil and watercolor to charcoal dust, silverpoint, and computer illustration.
