Children’s Hand Puppet Workshop with Lily Silly at TCPL

ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library will host Lily Silly for a children’s hand puppet workshop Thursday, August 1, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, in the Library’s Thaler/Howell Programming Room. With the guidance of Lily Silly, children attending the workshop will make a hand puppet from provided materials, then learn some basic puppet movements like sneezing, waving, bowing, crying, and getting the hiccups. Children will also have the opportunity to try their acting skills in the puppet theater. Lily Silly is Lily Gershon, a puppeteer, producer, singer and puppet maker, among other things. She is also the director of Lilypad Puppet Theater, a nonprofit dedicated to puppet arts. This program is free and open to the public. Younger children will need some adult assistance. No registration is required. This workshop is part of TCPL’s 2019 Summer Adventure. It is made possible by a grant from the Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County.
