BREAKING: AMBER Alert Issued for Joanna Coates, 14, from Rochester

Police say Coates and the suspect, Gonzalez, are possibly heading south toward New York City.

An AMBER Alert has been issued for Joanna Coates, a 14-year-old from Rochester, NY, and possibly heading for New York City, according to police.


Police say Coates was taken from LaSalle Street in Rochester around 7 p.m. on December 1st by 41-year-old Robert Gonzalez. Last seen traveling Southeast, they may be headed for New York City.


Coates was last seen wearing Timberland boots, a blue Nike shirt, and black leggings. She is approximately 5 feet 4 inches and weighs around 100 pounds. Gonzalez has black hair and brown eyes, around 6 feet tall, and weighs about 185 pounds.


Coates was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that she is in imminent danger of serious harm or death.


Anyone with information is asked to call Rochester Police at (866) N-Y-S-AMBER or dial 911.
