They’ve also been as surprising as they’ve been in a while, though. The NBA is supposedly becoming a league where a few elite teams dominate the league. In the playoffs, though, this year has been unusual in the amount of upsets that have occurred. The conference semifinals are not over yet, but the top 2 seeds are already out in the West. The 8 seed is giving the 4 seed all it can handle, and, if not for a triple overtime loss, would be a game from the conference finals. The 5-seeded Hawks will have a chance tonight to force a Game 7 against the East’s top seed. The only high seed that has looked dominant so far is Miami. We had been looking forward all season to a heavyweight title fight between Miami and Boston that would be an all-time classic playoff series, but the Heat-Celtics series turned out to be one of the least competitive series this year. By now, we should know better than to try to predict what will happen in sports. Perhaps the biggest surprise this postseason is that we don't.
