"Mark"ing a Franchise QB
Jets Trade Up to Draft Sanchez
I'm a Jets fan. This means that I'm used to being let down, and I'm used to hyped-up seasons ending in disappointment. Last year, Gang Green made a gutsy move in signing Brett Favre, and if we're looking at it strictly from a make-the-playoffs standpoint, it was a bust. But I will say that it made watching the Jets exciting again. I love Chad Pennington, but it was awesome seeing a future Hall-of-Famer with a cannon week in and week out.
This past weekend, the Jets made another gutsy move in trading up to draft USC quarterback Mark Sanchez. I think Sanchez has a lot to prove, especially since he has less than 20 college starts under his belt. But I'm happy to see the Jets having the guts to make a move. They addressed what is undoubtedly their biggest need, and gave up a relatively small amount to get it. I hope that it works out, and I'm optimistic, but I'm also a Jets fan. Hopefully we'll be in for a good season, and hopefully Sanchez will be able to step it up and pave the road to become the franchise quarterback the Jets so desperately need.
