ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library is pleased to offer an introductory workshop on the vector graphics program, Inkscape on Tuesday, September 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, in the Library’s Makerspace and Digital Lab. At this workshop for people ages 16 and up, participants will get an introduction to creating and preparing designs for laser cutting and engraving using Inkscape, a vector graphics program. Through hands-on experience, participants will create and edit designs that can then be used on TCPL’s Epilog laser cutter and engraver. The workshop will meet first in the Makerspace for a brief demonstration and then move to the Digital Lab. Please note: there will not be time to work on personal projects during this workshop, and basic computer skills are needed to participate. Participants are expected to be experienced with: using the basic tools of the Windows operating system; using a keyboard and mouse; and accessing, saving, and importing files. Registration is required for this free program. Register online: www.tcpl.org/events/inkscape-laser-cutting-and-engraving-0.
