ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library is pleased to host free income tax preparation services from Alternatives Federal Credit Union in the Digital Lab. These sessions are by appointment only, and will be on Fridays, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, starting January 31 and running through April 10.
This free tax preparation service is available to low-income residents of Tompkins and Cortland counties, and is completely free for those with an annual income of $57,000 or less. These sessions are by appointment only. To make an appointment, residents of Tompkins or Cortland counties can call 2-1-1 Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. For those living outside those counties, the number to call is (877) 211-8667. When calling to make an appointment, 2-1-1 workers will discuss the requirements and documents needed to qualify for the service, as well as what to bring to the appointment. Then, they will schedule an appointment for the caller.
