Rockin' Remnants Movie Night: Success!

Writer's picture: John SimonJohn Simon

Earlier this week, the hosts of #RockinRemnants collaborated with #Cinemapolis to give you all, our lovely & supportive locals, an enriching movie screening + experience. Read John Simon's recount of the event below!

Hot on the heels of being named "Best Radio Station" by readers of both the Ithaca Times and the Ithaca Journal, the Rockin' Remnants team decided to collaborate with Downtown Ithaca's Best Movie Theater (#Cinemapolis) to host a screening of "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown." This 2002 award-winning documentary uncovers the crack session players behind all of the big Motown hits: The Funk Brothers. More than 100 people turned out to meet the staff, pick up some gear and view this stunning bit of cinema on the big screen with a bunch of like-minded music lovers. It was a win/win/win in that a number of attendees had never been to Cinemapolis and are eager to return, #WVBR raised some cash for equipment improvements, and everybody involved had a blast. We'll definitely do it again!
