ITHACA—Tompkins County Public Library invites the community to a presentation on “Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors,” from 4:00 to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, August 28, in the Library’s Digital Lab.
This program, presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York staff, will help caregivers and loved ones get more insight into how best to respond to the sometimes confusing behaviors related to dementia in the middle stages. These behaviors are a form of communication that arise as language skills are lost; thus they are essential to understanding the needs of the person. The presentation will explore how to respond and how to identify common triggers. Additionally, attendees will learn about the process for assessing and identifying challenging behaviors, as well as strategies for addressing some of the most common dementia-related behaviors. Registration for this free program is required. This program is presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Staff.
