ITHACA, NY–Sherri Koski, president of Family Reading Partnership’s Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alyson Evans as the organization’s new executive director. Aly brings over 25 years of experience in non-profit education leadership, where she has worked to develop, fund, and sustain quality programming that supports children’s success in school and life.

During her career, much of it in southern California, Aly has worked extensively with and for the museums in San Diego’s Balboa Park, most recently with the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, where she served as National Project Director for the Art of Science Learning, a National Science Foundation-funded project. She led the development of the Fleet Inquiry Institute at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, providing professional development for teachers, and has served as resource development specialist for the San Diego Unified School District. Most recently, Aly served as manager of education for The CBORD Group, a local software company based in Ithaca.

As executive director for Family Reading Partnership, Aly will lead the organization and its staff to develop and sustain local and national partnerships in order to further the mission to ensure all children have early, frequent, and pleasurable experiences with books and reading aloud as a part of everyday family life.

“I am so thrilled to have Aly join our dynamic and growing organization,” Koski said. “Her extensive experience, combined with a fresh perspective, will be invaluable as we head into the next chapter of Family Reading Partnership’s growth and impact.”

Aly Evans will officially join the staff on June 1.

Koski also expressed gratitude to Katrina Morse and Elizabeth Stilwell for their interim leadership during the critical transition from founder and long-time director Brigid Hubberman. “Katrina and Elizabeth have such strong commitment to the mission and values that Brigid created for Family Reading Partnership, and I’m confident that Aly will share that commitment as well. Under Elizabeth and Katrina’s direction, Family Reading Partnership has continued to flourish, illustrated by the successful Books are my Super Power Read-Aloud Challenge, and we are extremely grateful for their leadership and dedication!”
