DO WE HAVE A DEMOCRACY CRISIS – WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT IT?

LWV-TC leads a special open members meeting on Monday November 11.

League of Women Voters of Tompkins County Invites you to a special open members meeting to discuss: Do we have a democracy crisis? What should we do about It?  Monday November 11, 6:45-8:45pm In the Borg Warner Room at TCPL. This meeting is co-sponsored by the new group Democracy Reform Ranking Project lead by Jennifer Karius. We will watch a segment of the video Capturing the Flag about the rising voter suppression problem which clearly suggests a democracy crisis. But is that crisis only evidenced in voter suppression?  We will break into small discussion groups and begin to identify the crises and brainstorm ways we can begin to address these issues.  There will be opportunities to meet and discuss the work of DRRP with Jennifer and for everyone to complete The Democracy Survey. We plan to brainstorm steps in forming a new Tompkins County League Action Committee that is focused on democracy reform issues and intersects with the work of our other action committees on Health and Natural Resources.  We look for members of the community to join us in this endeavor. Doors open at 6:45 for refreshments, networking and taking the Democracy Survey. Program starts promptly at 7:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Donations towards program costs are welcomed. For further information about this event please contact Ann Warde at amw38@cornell.edu. For information about Democracy Reform Ranking Project and Capturing the Flag, please contact Jennifer Karius at jenkarius@gmail.com.
