Although they started on a Christian rock label, Chevelle has long distanced themselves from being known as a Christian rock band. The band was originally formed in 1995 by three brothers - Pete, Sam, and Joe Loeffler - from a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, although Joe was later replaced on bass by brother-in-law Dean Bernardini, keeping it a family affair. Since they debuted Point #1 in 1999, Chevelle has been rocking the stage with an energy you could probably find under the hood of the car whose namesake they took. The band toured with acts such as Sevendust, Filter and Powerman 5000 and were eventually signed to Epic Records in 2002. That same year, they released their breakthrough album Wonder What's Next which included hit singles "The Red" and "Send The Pain Below" - the latter song reached the top slot on both the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts.
