Five Quarterbacks I Totally Forgot Existed During this Decade
Original Airdate: Friday, December 4, 2009. This is a part of the 93-Second Sports Shot series. 93-Second Sports Shots air weekday nights at 6pm.My new addiction is Sporcle.com. It's a game website which involves challenging list games. The reason why I'm bringing this up in my sports shot is because I played this one game titled “The Starting NFL quarterbacks of the 2000s.” According to this game, 157 different quarterbacks have started in at least one game during this millennium. The game gives you 20 minutes to guess every single one of them. I got 107 out of the 157, which kind of disturbs me, but I encourage you to try this game out; I'll post a link on the blog. http://www.sporcle.com/games/Wafez/quarterbacks_2000s
But Anyway, I did forget 50 quarterbacks of the millennium and when I saw the answers after I was done, I realized how many players I have just forgotten about, having played in this millennium. So from this I have made a top 5 list of players which I totally forgot about playing in this millennium.
I'll start the list with Kordell Stewart, there was one point in his career where he was a phenomenal quarterback for the Steelers, before Roethlisberger and Maddox. He then hit a slump and never came back, continuing to fail in Chicago and ultimately end his own career.
Next on my list is Ryan Leaf. Yeah most people remember him as one of the biggest draft busts of all time, but I just do not remember him ever playing during this millennium. Apparently he started 12 games for the Chargers and Cowboys during this millennium, before calling it quits… whatever.
When did Warren Moon play in this decade? The answer to that is in one game for the Kansas City Chiefs. Moon played 22 seasons in the CFL and the NFL, from 1978 to 2000. That one game makes him number three on my most forgotten qbs of the millennium list.
Next Guy: Drew Henson. I think it's fair to say this guy made a pretty large mistake in his life. Henson made headlines when he opted out of a 9 year, $19 million dollar contract to play 3rd base in the New York Yankees organization so he could pursue an NFL career. He did play quarterback at Michigan, so he thought he was making a great career move. He didn't. He only started in one game this millennium, and now isn't playing baseball or football.
The number one guy I totally forgot about and deservingly so: Tim Couch. First overall draft pick for the Cleveland Browns, he just could not get it done. Unfortunately, injuries took his career away early, and ultimately made him the most forgotten qb of the millennium
