Tonight, the Cornell Men's Basketball Team travels an hour north, to face local rival Syracuse. A budding Central New York rivalry, this promises to be an intriguing and intense matchup.
The Syracuse Orange are coming off a triumphant sweep of the 2K Sports Classic tournament at MSG last week. The Orange defeated then #13 Cal 95-73, and followed that up with a 87-71 defeated of the National Champion UNC Tar Heels in the final. Syracuse was led by the tremendous performances of junior transfer Forward Wesley Johnson, a potential lottery pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. Johnson was named MVP of the Tournament.
With their tournament success, the 4-0 Orange moved up to #9 in the coaches poll, after being unranked in its previous edition. Meanwhile, the Big Red saw their 21 home game winning streak snapped by Seton Hall on Friday Night, as the Pirates beat Cornell 89-79.
Listen as the Big Red try to get back on the winning path. Tip-off at the Carrier Dome is just after 7:00 PM, but our pregame coverage starts at 6. You can catch the action live on WVBR 93.5 FM and right here on wvbr.com.
