This is a part of the 93-Second Sports Shot series. 93-Second Sports Shots air weekday nights at 6pm.If you're a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, or any other team that is accustomed to winning over the past decade than this won't apply to you. On the other hand, fans of the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, or my beloved Washington Redskins, it's time to make a stand. If you need inspiration, I'll read you my letter to Redskins Owner Daniel Snyder.
Dear Mr. Dan Snyder,
I have only one thing to say to you. PLEASE. SELL. THE. TEAM.
It is one thing to trot heartless, underperforming, and overpaid athletes onto FedEx Field in Washington. I've grown accustomed to watching the team lose for the entire decade that you've owned the team.
However, don't try to take away my rights to criticize you for your disrespectful and unethical conduct over the past few months. Over the past few weeks, at your order, security guards at the stadium have been removing signs and t-shirts from fans who are being critical of your management style. Did you learn in fifth grade that the First Amendment grants Americans the right to freedom of speech? If not, I'm going to be critical of you now.
Not only have you not allowed fans to be critical, but you took it one step further. You have threatened to take away season tickets from ticket holders who have had their season tickets since before you and I were born. I'd probably be relieved if you took away any tickets I had so I don't have to watch Redskin fans be physically removed from the stadium by security guards or the terrible teams you continue to put on the field.
But my problems with you go far beyond all this. This summer, you sued season ticket holders for not being able to renew their tickets because of the current economic state. Do you have a heart? You have more money than I can even imagine and you want even more for families that can't even afford to pay for season tickets? SHAME ON YOU.
You claim to be the largest fan of the Washington Redskins, and you may very well be when you lose the entire fan base. If you have any respect for this organization and for yourself you will sell this team. And take Vinny Cerrato with you.
Not So Sincerely,
An alienated, disappointed, and ashamed Redskins Fan
