The New England Patriots' smug attitude. Everyone thinks that this team is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they aren't and I'm tired of listening to it.
Recently, the media has made a huge deal out of Jets head coach Rex Ryan's comments about the Pats. The problem is that coach Ryan's comments weren't directed at anyone or any team in particular. He just said that it doesn't matter what team he faces or who the coach is, he's going to prepare just as hard. He even gave Coach Belichick a compliment, saying he's a great coach.
Unfortunately this was enough to set the Pats off. Tom Brady was quoted as saying "Talk is cheap." So then Jets safety Kerry Rhodes chirped a little, and Lawrence Maroney laughed and said it's funny to listen to us...Who is Lawrence Maroney? I remember an overrated running back a few years ago with that name, but no one has been worthy-enough to be mentioned since.
Look, all I'm saying is that the New England Patriots are not good enough right now to be smug. They just had one of the luckiest wins of the year against the Bills, they've lost Rodney Harrison, Teddy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Larry Izzo, Richard Seymour, and Matt Cassell all within the last few months leaving their defense depleted and their offense shallow, and to top everything off, Tom Brady is coming off a season-ending injury and looks very shaky. Not to mention they haven't won anything since 2005.
The dynasty is over, the Patriots are back to being just an above average team. Please, Pats, just get over yourselves.
