Tompkins County Releases Bleak Third Quarter Economic Numbers
The October Tompkins County Economic Indicator Report released this week shows that countywide tax revenue is down 6% year over year, signaling that investment and consumer spending has not yet picked up in the area.
The report also showed higher unemployment and higher welfare claims compared to 2008.
However, there are some positive indicators, such as decreased fuel prices, and increased airline activity.
The Tompkins County Indicators report is released quarterly by the county’s administrator and gauges the economic and financial health of the region.
