The first round of swine flu vaccines may be available earlier than expected, according to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. The Secretary announced yesterday that the vaccine may be available as early as the first week of October, which will beat the peak of this fall’s expected flu season.
Such news may provide relief for the Ithaca area, which remains in mourning after the death of Cornell student Warren Schor, the first Tompkins County victim of the H1N1 virus. The funeral for Schor, who passed away on Friday at Cayuga Medical Center, will take place in White Plains this afternoon. A memorial service will be held at the University later this week.
