Governor Spitzerís budget proposal will
benefit Tompkins Countyís universities in the long run.
Eliot Spitzerís 124-point-3 billion dollar executive
budget proposal includes numerous initiatives for new Yorkís
universities including a 4 billion dollar endowment for the
stateís higher education institutes and an additional 200 million
dollars for the SUNY system.
According to Ronald Seeber,
Cornellís Vice-provost for land grant affairs ìGov. Spitzer has
demonstrated a commitment to quality higher education in the State
of New York today and into the foreseeable future.î
The
budget also funds numerous plans that benefit Cornell including
increased funding for stem cell funding that will provide a
research bump at Weill Cornell medical college in New York City
and at Cornellís main Ithaca campus.
