This Saturday Boynton Middle School will be host to the 22nd annual Ithaca Fishing Day. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. by way of the Leon Chandler Chapter of Trout Unlimited. On display will be a presentation of the chapter’s Trout in the Classroom program, which has put coldwater aquariums in 16 area schools allowing students to raise trout from hatching until they are released in streams.
The event is free with raffle proceeds and donations going to Trout Unlimited educational programs. On Saturday, students will give present their very own science, art and writing projects that they’ve completed with the program, emphasizing the importance of being connected to the local ecosystem.
