New Roots Charter School gets its charter renewed for three years
Just yesterday, the SUNY Board of Trustees voted unanimously to renew New Roots charter for the next three years. This comes following some turmoil for the New Roots Charter School as the Ithaca City’s Board of Education has been prepared to file an Article 78 against the school. Article 78 cites that the Charter School’s Institute was not following its own rules concerning the renewal process. Additionally, the Ithaca City School District declared that the New Roots School needs to show that their students perform just as well as those in Ithaca public schools. The decision to continue with Article 78 given SUNY’s renewal of the charter is still in process.
