The number of reported cases of the whopping cough, or pertussis, in Tompkins County has now doubled the total amount of cases reported in 2011.  Cases mainly include Tompkins County students age nine to fourteen. Elementary school students and adults are also being infected. People should get vaccinated for pertussis every five to ten years. This disease is especially dangerous for younger kids and expectant mothers.

Be sure to take the proper precautions and prevent contracting the whopping cough.
