This Week's Artist Spotlight: A.F.I.
159.jpgWhat began as a hardcore punk outfit, A.F.I. has evolved over the years to become one of the seminal goth-punk bands of the past two decades. Lead singer Davey Havok flawlessly transitions from deep romantic vocals to his signature screams while guitarist Jade Puget weaves complex guitar riffs. After achieving moderate success with earlier albums Black Sails in the Sunset and The Art of Drowning (which was named one of the top 25 punk albums of all time by Revolver magazine), A.F.I. entered into a period of mainstream success with the release of Sing the Sorrow.
As with their other albums, all of the songs on Crash Love are connected by a greater theme, accoding to Havok, tracing "and arc from adoration to the desire to tear down the object of affection." With an album for every mood, AFI is an essential part of any modern rock collection.

New single: Medicate from the album Crash Love

Other songs to check out: Days of the Phoenix, Girls Not Grey, Miss Murder, and Love Like Winter

Also check out Havok and Puget's electronica side project Blaqk Audio.
