What's going to happen to my letters to Santa?

During my shift I mentioned where all of those letters labeled to Santa go.  In case you weren't listening, according to Parade, they "are intercepted by the U.S. Postal Service under the 100-year-old Operation Santa program, which enables members of the public and charitable organizations to respond with gifts for those in need."  However, with the U.S. Postal Service defaulting last week and the fate of our mail in the hands of Congress I worry that this wonderful program will cease to exist.
