As evidenced by the many informational booths, the parade demonstrating pro-active thinking and awareness, and the energized support of local artists and bands, Ithaca is a community that cares. This being my first Ithaca Fest, I was overwhelmed by the dedication of the Ithacan community to stay educated about important issues affecting far outside the Ithacan borders. Enthusiastically advertised were environmental issues, including the compost booth and the many announcements about recycling. I was able to catch a few local bands; No Eggs No Problem, Radio the Ape, and The CeCes. Each band was stylistically unique and interactive. No Eggs No Problem put on a great show, combining acoustic guitar with clever rapping. Radio the Ape, a group of high school students, enchanted the crowd with their mellow dance rock. The last band I was able to see was The CeCes. The female duo, comprised of twin sisters, charmingly entertained with their folksy renditions of popular hip hop songs. Overall, the music was refreshing, the information was insightful, and the community was at its best! *
