I know there are some people out there who are too busy to read a bunch of articles or even one...so here's a few fast facts that might provide some excellent water cooler conversation:
Weezer'sRivers Cuomo is out of the hospital and back in Los Angeles - of course, he had to take another tour bus there because doctors don't want him to fly out of fear of damage to his punctured lungs. Apparently, it seems that Rivers is perfectly able to play guitar so we'll see how soon it takes for those internal injuries to heal so he can't get back on stage. WVBR wishes Rivers a speedy recovery.
According to MTV, it looks like Green Day will follow in the footsteps of The Beatles and get their own Rock Band game this summer. Can't wait that long? This winter, Guitar Hero:Van Halen comes out, following the likes of Metallica & Aerosmith.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have spent the last two years or so on hiatus. They recently returned to the studio to work on their tenth album, but one member has been notably absent. It has been reported that guitarist John Frusciante has quit the band, having decided that "the whole big rock band machinery just doesn't appeal to him anymore." The other RHCP members are trying to find a replacement and have so far tabbed Josh Klinghoffer.
This years dates for the Coachella festival in Indio, California have been announced. It is unknown as of yet which bands will make appearances, but the music will rage from April 16-18.
In related news, Bamboozlehas begun announcing the line-up that will hit The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey on May 1st & 2nd. Weezer (we'll see?), Paramore, Angels & Airwaves, Girl Talk, Mutemath, and The Aquabats are among the many bands you can expect to see there.
The biggest supergroup news this year has been about Them Crooked Vultures, but another long-brewing project is finally taking form: Former Talking Heads frontman, David Byrne has been teaming up with Fatboy Slim to create Here Lies Love a collaborative effort that will also feature stars such as Tori Amos and Cyndi Lauper that is about former Phillipines First Lady, Imelda Marcos.
Will any of these stories make WVBR's top music stories of the year? You'll just have to wait to find out.
